The War The World Forgot

BBC Radio 4

“I have buried more people in the past four months than I did my whole life. All were civilians killed by warring sides’ gunfire. At a tour I did a few days ago of our neighbourhood, which is now a ghost town i almost lost my mind when I saw what the war did to us.”

Eye witness account in The War the World Forgot

Listen Now

Former BBC Sudan correspondent and author on the Sudans, James Copnall, reports on the ongoing war in Sudan. Extracts from audio diaries by witnesses on the ground are accompanied by analysis of the conflict’s political and humanitarian impact by analyst Kholood Khair, William Carter, of the Norwegian Refugee Council, Sudan, and film maker and activist, Hajooj Kuka. The report also highlights the role of the Resistance Committees and their Emergency Response Rooms in re-establishing basic services for local communities decimated by what has been described as a Cain and Abel fight to the death for power.

“It feels as if the world is purposefully ignoring Sudan and what is going on.”

Kholood Khair
